Ashley is AWS’s Global Head of Social Impact & Sustainability, the first Asian and Singaporean to fulfill this role in a Big Tech. He leads AWS “Tech for Good” work globally; deploying AWS technology, solutions and expertise to drive environmental and social impact outcomes. His team partners with mission-driven organizations of all sizes – across Financial Institutions, Governments, Multilaterals, NGOs and Start-ups, delivering programs in Climate, Global Public Health, Education, Food Security, Human Rights and Open Data.
In Asia, that includes being technology partner to some of the largest foundations and platforms – such as Eco-Business and Temasek Foundation, supporting one of the world's biggest sustainability competition, The Liveability Challenge (TLC).
Globally, his team led the whole-of-AWS response providing cloud support to Ukraine for humanitarian workloads during the Russian invasion and the AWS Health Equity Initiative (HEI) committing $60M to advance healthcare innovation.
As an experienced Global Head serving at the intersection of 4 sectors (Private, Public, Tech, Civil society), Ashley previously fulfilled senior leadership roles at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Monitor Deloitte and Booz & Company where he helped lead their Sustainability, Public Sector and Financial Services businesses across US, APJ and EMEA. He concurrently served as Global Head of Private-Public Partnerships (PPPs), structuring 3-way partnerships between private/public blended finance investors, tech firms and multilaterals – co-creating ESG-centric IP and solutions (GenAI, Robotics etc.) addressing Industry 4.0 socio-economic challenges including Future of Jobs/Transport.
Ashley graduated from Harvard Kennedy School of Government (HKS) with a Mid-Career Masters in Public Admin (MCMPA) as a Lee Kuan Yew scholar and Mason fellow. Harvard appointed Nicholas Burns, the current US Ambassador to China , to be his advisor. He holds a Law degree (LLB) from London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE), where he was the first Singaporean to be twice consecutively elected to serve two terms on LSE’s Board of Governors.
