Advancing sustainable finance for nature in Asia

September 11, 2024

Capital Tower, Level 9, Left Brain & Right Brain

Synopsis

Safeguarding natural capital will be critical to meeting near and long-term climate targets. However, climate scientists warn that the complexities associated with nature and biodiversity-related financing will remain a key obstacle for Asia, one of the world's richest biodiversity hotspots.

With nature's ecosystem services worth at least US$125 trillion to the global economy every year, it is vital for business and policy leaders to put financing for nature at the top of their agendas.

Eco-Business, Asia Pacific’s leading media and intelligence organisation dedicated to sustainable development and ESG performance, is organising a full-day masterclass in collaboration with UNEP FI on these important topics.

Participants will gain industry-first insights on sustainable finance and nature, delivered by key decision makers and stakeholders in Asia committed to addressing critical nature-related risks and opportunities.

Participants will:

  • Understand important biodiversity developments in Asia, including the significance of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework
  • Be equipped with UNEP FI’s nature target-setting tool, including identifying key material issues for nature, mapping guidance, and engagement activities
  • Learn from applied nature case studies from banks, including existing practices in nature-related finance, policies, strategy and client engagement

Participants will receive a Certificate of Participation issued by UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative, and Eco-Business upon completion of the workshop.

Who should attend this masterclass:

Mid to senior level managers with sustainability responsibilities from key sectors, including finance, agriculture, natural resources, manufacturing, real estate and construction, materials and waste management
