Kurt leads the Energy Transition Platform for Asia Research and Engagement, which is backed by investors representing US$ 5 trillion. The platform aims to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy in Asia. Its key areas of research and engagement are decarbonization strategies for electric utilities and the portfolios of commercial banks.

Kurt’s interest in sustainable energy spans decades, with a degree in Alternative Energy from Brown University, and his first job was managing a portfolio of renewable energy projects in the USA.

Based in Singapore for 27 years, Kurt has stayed active in sustainable energy through his consulting business and work with funds focused on sustainable development.  He was an advisor to first-generation biofuel companies for listing on AIM and worked with investors on several distressed biofuel situations. He was appointed as a director by investors for restructuring one of China's largest solar panel manufacturers.  Before joining ARE, he was CEO of a Singapore company producing sustainable replacements for petroleum lubricants and rust inhibitors produced from wool grease.
